Paranormal Underground Radio: Darren Thompson (Washington State Paranormal Investigations)
Visit us at www.paranormalunderground.net to read Paranormal Underground magazine or post in our forum! In this episode of Paranormal Underground Radio, we talk with Darren Thompson, president and cofounder of WSPIR (Washington State Paranormal Investigations and Research). WSPIR is a paranormal investigation, research, and education organization committed to seeking scientific and metaphysical evidence of other realms of existence; dedicated to assisting those experiencing unexplained phenomenon; and providing educational resources to the community. By day, Darren is an engineer with a large telecommunications company, but when the sun goes down, he is president of Washington State Paranormal Investigations and Research (WSPIR). Darren has always been fascinated by the unexplained or the “paranormal.” After having mysterious experiences at a haunted B&B in New Orleans, he and his wife, Jill, began to actively pursue their shared interest in the paranormal. In 2005, Darren, Jill and three others established WSPIR, which has now grown to 60 members, all dedicated to assisting those experiencing unexplained phenomenon by in-depth investigation and historical research. Over the past eight years, Darren has led many paranormal investigations in Washington state, as well as around the country. He has investigated with Jason and Grant of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) and investigated in Copenhagen with the Paranormalt Institut of Denmark. Darren has been a guest on numerous radio and television shows and makes personal appearances at colleges and universities speaking on the paranormal. In addition to investigating the paranormal, WSPIR, under Darren’s leadership, assists in the preservation of valued historical landmarks and “forgotten” cemeteries for future generations. WSPIR maintains a local cemetery, transcribes cemetery gravestones for genealogical research, and encourages the study of gravestones and gravestone restoration from historical and artistic perspectives. “We have an appreciation for historical buildings and cemeteries and are honored to help preserve history anyway we can.” Darren is a member of the American Association Electronic Voice Phenomenon (AAEVP), the Association for Gravestone Studies, and International Paranormal Investigators. WSPIR represents The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) in Washington State.
