The new movie The Possession is loosely based on the story of The Dibbuk Box. Jason joins us again to talk about Jason’s book, the recently released The Possession movie by Sam Raimi, and the unusual experiences surrounding the Dibbuk Box. Jason is the museum director at A. T. Still University — Museum of Osteopathic Medicine. He speaks on medical history and exhibits artifacts from the museum worldwide.
About the Movie: Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures produced Dibbuk Box is now titled “THE POSSESSION” and was released on August 31, 2012. The cast includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick, Madison Davenport and Natasha Calis, with Ole Bornedal as director. Premise: A young girl buys an antique box at a yard sale, unaware that inside the collectible lives a malicious ancient spirit. The girl’s father teams with his ex-wife to find a way to end the curse upon their child.
About The Dibbuk Box book: A dark secret slowly unravels when a wine cabinet sells at an estate sale in Oregon. It is soon sold and resold on eBay’s Internet auction, and each new owner becomes desperate to get rid of the box along with the health problems, accidents, or death they claim came with it. The curator of a medical museum in a small Missouri town learns of the mysterious cabinet and is intrigued by it as an artifact to be studied and researched. Jason Haxton places a bid on eBay and he, too, wins and soon finds himself the proud owner of the dibbuk box. But as he carefully investigates and records everything he can about this unusual item said to be possessed by a Jewish spirit, he discovers far more than he bargained for. In this true account, a dark past comes to light, a past that began at the time of the Holocaust and seems to have come full circle.

In this episode of Paranormal Underground Radio, we talk with Ben Hansen, team lead of Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files. Ben set up the Fact of Faked investigation team to learn the truth about the paranormal. Early in his youth, Ben developed a fascination with UFOs and secret government projects. Ben has been looking for the real-life X-Files since he was a child and decided he would dedicate his career to investigations. After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Utah in Sociology and Criminology, he went to work for the State of Utah on a county SVU task force. His training and skills later brought him to work as a criminal investigator for the FBI. Although he never found the X-Files, his time serving at the state and federal levels gave him over 6 years of formal experience in investigating a wide range of crimes and national security details. He works as a Systems Analyst for a non-profit group when he’s not investigating cases.
Also joining Ben is Ernie Alonzo. Since the age of 12, Ernie has been interested in ghosts and the paranormal. He has traveled to various haunted locations throughout California and the U.S. as a paranormal enthusiast. Convinced that the local history in his hometown would provide the foundation for a great ghost walk, in 2009 Ernie founded Haunted Orange, a paranormal tour and events company based in Orange, CA. Originally a walking tour company and a Website, Haunted Orange has expanded to Haunted Orange County and now offers paranormal bus tours, walking tours, paranormal meet ups and investigation opportunities, dinners & lectures with well known personalities in the field. In 2011 Ernie partnered with Ramiro Ramirez of the paranormal reality series "From Beyond" to bring the investigation side of events to Haunted OC. Currently Ernie is working with Ben Hansen of SyFy's Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files on a variety of events including a series of UFO lectures & Skywatches. 2013 will be a pivotal year for Haunted OC. He is determined to expand into all facets of the paranormal and provide a wide range of experiences for patrons.
During the second hour of the show, we also talk with the UPIO, including Natalie Poole and Heather Allynn. Based in Southern California, The Unexplained Phenomena Investigation Organization (UPIO) is a science-based research team dedicated to examining the relations between the physical world and the inexplicable. The group’s mission is to evaluate and theorize the scientific connections within the paranormal and astrophysical realms, as well as the unknown, curious, extraordinary and bizarre. On April 2, 2012, Michael released his book, The Paranormal Investigator Handbook: A Beginner’s Guide, which is a procedural manual for conducting paranormal investigations and is written for the novice who either wants to join an existing investigative team or start one. This book neither confirms nor denies the existence of ghosts, spirits, or other paranormal entities; it simply describes, in easy to understand terms, how to document, and in some cases, debunk reports of paranormal activity.

She has worked with private investigators, police agencies, and has conducted more than 350 investigations in both private homes and businesses. Amy studied Psychology at the University of Arizona and was mentored by world-renowned Para-psychologist, Dr William Roll. She resides in Denver, Colorado.
Devoting more than 21 years of active service to the New York City Police Department, retired Homicide Detective Steve Di Schiavi is now lending his expertise to the new Travel Channel series, The Dead Files. Based on the powerful premise that every property has a story to be told, Steve, alongside physical medium, Amy Allan, combine their unique skills to solve unexplained paranormal phenomena in haunted locations across America. In the series, Steve relies on his police training and experience to explore each property, questioning the owners about the building’s past before gathering more facts from local historians, police investigators and by tracking down past owners of the property. When the two investigators come together to share their findings, the parallels between their discoveries are powerfully revealed.
Following his retirement from the NYPD, Steve worked as a Senior Investigator of Merrill Lynch’s Fraud Department. Steve is currently a Special Investigator for the city of New York and is a licensed New York State Private Investigator and a licensed Armed Guard. He also owns his own Private Investigation Company, Paragon Investigations. Steve was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and currently resides on Staten Island with his wife and daughter.

Guy Lyon Playfair joined the Society for Psychical Research in 1974 and is currently a member of the Library, Survival and Image, Publicity and Publications committees. A graduate of Cambridge University, he has been a freelance journalist and photographer since 1963. He spent 14 years in Brazil where he collected material for the first two of his 12 books, the most recent of which are Twin Telepathy (2002) and New Clothes for Old Souls (2006). His research activities have included collaboration with Maurice Grosse on the Enfield poltergeist case of 1977-78 and with Montague Keen on the Jacqueline Poole murder case (2004). He is a regular contributor to the SPR Journal and his Mediawatch column, featuring criticism of extreme scepticism, appeared in 32 consecutive issues of the Paranormal Review from 1996 to 2004, and now appears regularly on the Website skepticalinvestigations.org.
Roberta C.M. DeCaprio writes romance, paranormal, paranormal romance, and historical fiction books. Her titles include Coma Coast, The Vanity, and Altered Journey. Altered Journey is Roberta’s 7th book. She is a member of the Romance Writers Association of America, she’s been an editor, and she is married and has a child. She loves writing romance, paranormal, paranormal romance, and historical fiction books.

In this episode of Paranormal Underground Radio, we talk with Donna and Peter Stagman, as well as Eric Quinn, of Para Hunter (www.parahunter.com). Donna Stagman is Cofounder of Para Hunter, lead investigator, researcher, case manager and web design. Originally from Swansea, MA; now a resident of Lakeville. From a young age Donna was always drawn to the hunt to find out what lies beyond this life and the wonders of the natural world. One of her first experiences with the paranormal was on the Battleship Massachusetts in Fall River, MA, at the age of 7. Over the years Donna has spent much time researching the various concepts of an after life and the search for concrete proof or the real existence of spiritual beings (ghosts). In addition to “ghost hunting” she also has interests in the study of divination and cryptozoology. She is a solitary practicing witch. When she is not out searching for answers from the unexplained, she is employed in the Health Care field and holds a BSN from RIC.
Peter Stagman is Cofounder of Para Hunter, lead investigator, researcher, tech specialist and web design. Pete has been interested in the paranormal his entire life. Although he considers himself a skeptic, his many personal paranormal experiences also make him a believer. Pete’s experience in the military and many years in the I.T. field, including a few years as a computer forensics specialist, make him well suited to analyzing data and debunking evidence.
Eric Quinn  is an Investigator with Para Hunter. Eric grew up in North Weymouth Massachusetts and has always been open to the possibility of the paranormal – specifically ghost haunting. Although Eric grew up as a believer, he still considers himself to be a big skeptic. He is known to not > believe things unless he sees, hears or feels them for himself and is given the opportunity to personally debunk them. These same strong opinions, keen analytical skills and his friendships with Pete, Donna, and Kim are what brought him into the Para Hunter family. A longtime resident of Putnam, CT, in-between paranormal investigation he spends most of his time with his wife and two sons, and is active in the community.

Mike formed Research: Paranormal in 1998. The team provides services nationwide. “We are a science based team that combines metaphysical for a complete approach to better understand the paranormal. We separate ourselves from other teams by including controlled experiments on investigations which through the use of variables, help us further understand the unknown.”
According to Mike, the team does not simply enter a location, collect data, and then leave. Each hour of the investigation the team changes a factor in the investigation method to find what seems to provide the best results. “Working with major paranormal institutions and research centers, all of our collected data is sent in for peer review and documentation of location events to be used by future investigators on future cases. We strive to have the latest in technology and equipment to assist us during our investigations.”
